From WELCOME BG
Welcome BG will host its annual social service agency expo event on Thursday, March 26, from noon – 1:30 p.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 315 S. College Drive, Bowling Green. The goal of the event is to connect local social agencies with Bowling Green and Wood County’s new community members, including new Americans, immigrants, refugees, and BGSU international students. The agencies will share awareness of the services that are available to assist in daily lives.
Social services are essential for immigrants as they help newcomers overcome barriers to employment, navigate complex systems, and contribute to Ohio’s workforce and economic growth. The available and offered services help them join the workforce, fill high-demand jobs, and boost economic growth, which benefits native-born residents.
Services that focus on education and integration help newcomers become self-sufficient and productive members of the community. Immigrants contribute to labor force growth.
WBG is a local, non-profit organization with a mission to continue to develop and promote Bowling Green as a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment for all, including new Americans, newcomers, people of diverse backgrounds, immigrants, and refugees. WBG is committed to being a bridge that connects the diverse immigrant community with existing residents so that common ground and shared leadership can be realized.
The event is made possible by funding from the City of Bowling Green Human Relations Commission. The event is free and open to the public.
