From GRAND RAPIDS TOWN HALL COMMITTEE
The Grand Rapids Town Hall Committee and Historical Society of Grand Rapids have announced that EZ Pickenz will perform in the auditorium of the historic Grand Rapids Town Hall on Saturday, April 25, at 7 p.m.
Matt Meeker, Mark Elder, Lyle Diefenthaler, and Derrick Hudson comprise EZ Pickenz, a group that performs songs for folk, rock, blues, and country fans. Meeker and Elder started touring Lake Erie West in 2016. When the duo was trying to come up with a name, Meeker suggested adapting Elder’s recording studio name, “Old Gyz Productions.” Meeker likes the letter “z,” and EZ Pickenz was born.
After a performance in 2021, Diefenthaler asked if they would like to add some percussion. In 2024, after the band’s first performance as part of Acoustics for Autism in Maumee, members invited Hudson to join them, and it was a good fit. Members of the band enjoy music by The Moody Blues, Beatles, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Crosby/Stills/Nash, Neil Young, Grateful Dead, Jimmy Buffet, and many others, along with rowdy lighthearted originals too. In 2023, the band released its album “EZ Pickenz” and celebrated with a concert at the Listening Loft above Levi and Lilac’s in Maumee.
Tickets are $10 each and are available at The Village Orchard in Grand Rapids or at the door.
