From OFFICE OF THE WOOD COUNTY RECORDER
Wood County Recorder Connor Rose has released the first quarter 2026 report on real estate transaction activity, including deed and mortgage filings, with comparisons to the same period in 2025.
This report has been altered from the previous year to remove document type “Affidavit” as affidavits don’t have a consideration value and not all affidavits are true conveyances.
In the first quarter of 2026, the recorder’s office recorded 788 deeds totaling just shy of $144 million in consideration. This represents a 3.4% increase in the number of recorded deeds compared to 762 deeds recorded in the first quarter of 2025. The total consideration amount also increased 3.6% from the $139 million in consideration from 2025.
In terms of mortgage recordings, the first quarter of 2026 saw 836 mortgages filed, representing a 15.47% increase from the 724 mortgages recorded in the first quarter of 2025.
“We continue to see steady real estate activity in Wood County, even amid ongoing global events. The volume of recordings this quarter shows that buyers and sellers are still actively participating in the market,” said Rose.
The recorder’s office will continue to monitor trends in real estate transactions across Wood County and provide regular updates to keep the public informed.
