From LATIN DANCE BG
Latin Dance Toledo, founded in 2024 by Zora, began with a vision: to create accessible opportunities for people in the community to learn authentic Latin dance. At the time, the nearest studios offering salsa and bachata were located one to two hours away, making it difficult for many to consistently participate. Determined to change that, Zora brought Latin dance closer to home, in Toledo.
What started as a small initiative quickly grew into a vibrant and welcoming dance community. As the community continued to grow, the studio began attracting dancers from surrounding areas such as Bowling Green, Findlay, and Fremont. Seeing the consistent interest, especially from Bowling Green, the decision to expand felt like a natural next step.
Over the past couple of years, Latin Dance Toledo has built connections within the Bowling Green community by collaborating with BGSU, local organizations and events, including La Conexión, the Latino Student Union, the Center for Student Connections and Opportunity at BGSU, and Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations. Through these experiences, it became apparent that Bowling Green was ready and eager for a consistent Latin dance presence.
Now, that vision is becoming a reality.
Latin Dance Toledo is officially expanding into Bowling Green, bringing its structured and community-driven approach to a new audience. The program offers four-week progressive cycles in salsa and bachata, designed to help students build skills step-by-step in a supportive and fun environment. With multiple levels available, dancers can grow at their own pace and transition confidently as they improve.
In addition to classes, Latin Dance Toledo is known for its social events and dance parties, high-energy nights where the community comes together to practice, connect, and simply enjoy the music. These events have become a staple in Toledo, and that same excitement will now be brought to Bowling Green, creating even more opportunities for people to get involved beyond the classroom.
“For me this has always been about more than just dance,” said Zora from Venezuela, founder of Latin Dance Toledo. “It’s about creating a space where people feel welcome, where they can grow, meet others, and be part of something special. Seeing the response from Bowling Green made it clear, this was something the community truly wanted, and we’re excited to finally bring it here.”
With a strong foundation in Toledo and growing support across northwest Ohio, Latin Dance Toledo continues its mission of creating dancers, building community, and making lasting memories.
New students in Bowling Green are currently being welcomed with a $20 discount to get started.
