Wood County has potential for thunderstorms this afternoon and evening

Clouds move quickly during a storm on April 15 (southern BG, looking east).

From WOOD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY

Wood County has the potential for thunderstorms (April 16) this afternoon and early evening. However, it is not expected to be the severe weather people experienced the past few days. The main hazards will be damaging winds in excess of 60 mph, lightning, and hail larger than 1 inch.

It appears that the chance for severe weather on Saturday has shifted south of Wood County.

During the severe weather Wednesday afternoon, people may have received multiple calls from Wood County EMA’s new mass notification system, Wood County Alert by Everbridge. Wood County EMA would like to apologize for excessive calls some people may have received. It was an error in the system, and Wood County EMA is working with Everbridge to ensure this does not happen again. Wood County EMA will notify the public when it is configured properly for open public registration as soon as it is able.

The EMA will continue to monitor and provide updates as appropriate.
