BG FFA members place at different competitions

BGHS FFA's ninth-place State Food Science CDE Team (L to R): Mason Richmond, Kiersten Hendricks, Olivia Rogers, and Isabella Belleville

From BOWLING GREEN CITY SCHOOLS

The Bowling Green FFA chapter had a busy and successful start to 2026, filled with competitions, fundraising, and member recognition.

Several members represented the chapter at the county public speaking contest. Kate Conway placed third in the “Creed Speaking” contest, Hayley Miller placed fifth in the “Beginning Prepared” category, Aidan Thomas placed second in “Advanced Prepared Speaking,” and Emma Nester placed fourth in “Extemporaneous Speaking.” With his strong performance, Aidan qualified to move onto the district competition, where he placed sixth.

Members who excelled in the chapter’s annual fruit sale were also recognized. Students who sold $1,000 worth of fruit earned a special fruit sale lunch together at Beckett’s as a reward for their hard work and dedication.

The chapter also competed at the State Food Science Career Development Event. The team of Isabella Belleville, Madison Richmond, Keirsten Hendricks, and Olivia Rogers represented Bowling Green and placed ninth in the state, demonstrating their knowledge of food safety, processing, and product development.

FFA members also supported a great cause during the “Bobcat-A-Thon” basketball game. During the varsity game, members sold baked goods they had made, ran the concession stand, hosted a half-court-shot contest, and organized a 50/50 raffle. All funds raised went directly to Nationwide Children’s Hospital – Toledo to support children receiving medical care through the “Bobcat-A-Thon” event that was held in February.

Bowling Green FFA is a satellite program of Penta Career Center.
