Shadwick L Rader

Shadwick L. Rader, age 76 of Bowling Green, Ohio passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at his house surrounded by his family. He was was born on May 28, 1950 in Bluffton, Ohio and was a graduate of Clay High School and the University of Toledo.

A proud veteran, he served his country in the U.S. Army as a Military Police officer (MP) while stationed in Mannheim, Germany during the Vietnam War. When he returned home from Germany he attended The University of Toledo and graduated with a B.A. in Secondary Education. After earning his college degree, he joined Columbia Gas of Ohio, where he dedicated 25 years of faithful service.

He was an avid fisherman. If he was not at home, you could guarantee he was out on his Boston Whaler on Lake Erie, looking for his next big walleye or perch catch. In the fall, if he was not fishing he could be found watching his Ohio State Buckeyes play football.

Shad loved his family deeply and was endlessly proud of the lives they built and the accomplishments they achieved. He would travel around Northwest Ohio watching his granddaughter Lily play tennis for Bowling Green High School. He also enjoyed watching his grandson Quinn run cross country, even driving 2.5 hours to watch him run.

Shad is survived by his wife, Linda (Saunders) and son, Eric (Andrea) of Bowling Green, Ohio, grandchildren, Quinn and Lily Rader and many nieces, nephews, cousins and longtime friends whom he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents Rollan and Marilyn Rader and his sister Karen Hager.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or a charity of the donor’s choice.
