BG attorney says Judge Joel Kuhlman is a ‘great judge’

My name is Jim Weinandy. I reside and operate my law practice in Bowling Green, and I strongly endorse Joel Kuhlman for Wood County Common Pleas judge.

After 37 years of practicing law in this community, I have formed a strong opinion on what makes a great judge. In my experience – and from hearing fellow attorneys who practice before Judge Kuhlman – he is a great judge with the right temperament needed to serve Wood County well.

Having the right judicial temperament means being intelligent, fair, honest, diligent, and compassionate. It requires total independence, free from bias or self-interest, with a focus on listening carefully and doing the right thing regardless of who comes before the court. A great judge follows both the letter and the spirit of the law.

Wood County Common Pleas judges handle complex matters – from divorces and civil disputes to criminal cases. They must be multi-dimensional and maintain a deep understanding of varied legal fields. They must have the ability to look at cases from all sides. Only Judge Kuhlman is the candidate with a broad background that allows him to see a case from all sides.

Crucially, great judges take their role seriously without worrying about personal or political fallout. They never look down from the bench or forget that their decisions impact real human lives. They recognize the weight of their authority, yet they use it decisively to strengthen our community.

Judge Joel Kuhlman has proven he possesses these qualities and the broad experience this office demands. I will be voting to retain him. He is a great judge. I believe he has earned your vote as well.
