Rezoning of nearly a half acre for Habitat for Humanity was unanimously approved this evening (Wednesday) by the Bowling Green Planning Commission. The issue will next go before City Council.
The city had given the old water tower property, at the southwest corner of Clough and Manville streets, to Habitat for Humanity. But the zoning needed to be changed from S-3 planned institutional to R-2 single family residential.
Habitat plans to build three single family homes on the site, with the driveways along Manville. These will be the first Habitat homes in Bowling Green.
“I know how excited they are and how long they’ve looked for a place to build in Bowling Green,” said Judy Ennis, who has assisted Habitat with projects.
Bowling Green Planning Director Heather Sayler said Habitat for Humanity plans to build one house a year starting next year. Bowling Green State University is teaming up with Habitat for the first house.
