The Bowling Green Memorial Day Observance Committee is seeking community units to march in the Memorial Day Parade to be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 28. The group is seeking veteran groups, scouting groups, and other groups offering patriot tribute to our veterans. Also needed are convertibles to transport veterans needing assistance. The parade forms up at the BG Post Office at 9:30 a.m. and concludes with a ceremony at Oak Grove Cemetery. Volunteers should contact David Ridenour at 419-352-5054 (e-mail djride@dacor.net) .
The committee will also be decorating Memory Gardens Cemetery and Oak Grove Cemetery on Saturday, May 19. Flags will be placed on veterans’ graves starting with Memory Gardens at 10 a.m. and concluding with Oak Grove Cemetery at 1 p.m. Volunteers would be appreciated to help honor local veterans.
The Paul C. Ladd Post 1148, 715 S. Main St., will have coffee and doughnuts for veterans 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. on the day of the parade, with transportation in a historical military “deuce and a half” for veterans to ride in the parade.
