A Portage man was killed in a motorcycle crash this morning.
The Wood County Sheriff’s Office investigated the singe-vehicle crash, which occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Grant Road, south of the intersection with Cygnet Road in Bloom Township.
Brandon Smarszcz, 38, was northbound on a 2005 Harley-Davidson, when he failed to maintain his lane while negotiating a curve, according to the initial investigation. The motorcycle went off the west side of the roadway, overturned and struck a tree while Smarszcz was ejected.
Smarszcz was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident is still under investigation.
