Wood County is now up to 3,922 confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 since March, according to the Wednesday, Nov. 18, update from the Wood County Health Department. That is 62 more than on Tuesday.
The number of active COVID cases in the county is now 476, which is 21 fewer than on Tuesday. Active cases are Wood County residents who are being monitored by the health department according to state and federal isolation criteria.
A total of 281 local residents have been hospitalized for the coronavirus, with two more being hospitalized since Tuesday.
The county has recorded a total of 105 deaths from COVID. Of those, one person was in her 40s, three were in their 50s, 11 were in their 60s, 25 in their 70s, 45 in their 80s, and 20 in their 90s. Of the deaths, 59 have been females, and 46 have been males.
Of the total 3,922 cases in the county as of today, those with the virus ranged in age from 1 to 102, with the median age of 36. Of those testing positive, 2,041 were female, and 1,881 were male.
Cases involving BGSU students and staff who live in surrounding counties and commute are included in BGSU figures, but not Wood County’s total count.
Every Wednesday, the Wood County Health Department lists “active cases” by ZIP codes. As of this week, there were 28 areas in the county with active cases.
The Perrysburg ZIP code area has the most this week, with 156-160 active cases. Next is Bowling Green, with 146-150 active cases.
Northwood and Rossford areas both have 21-25 active cases, and Millbury, Pemberville, Walbridge and Wayne areas each have 11-15 cases. The Bloomdale, Bradner and Risingsun areas have 6-10 cases each.
Areas with 1 to 5 cases each include Custar, Cygnet, Deshler, Dunbridge, Fostoria, Genoa, Grand Rapids, Haskins, Jerry City, Luckey, Milton Center, North Baltimore, Portage, Rudolph, Tontogany, Weston and Woodville.
The latest numbers reported for schools (week of Nov. 9) in the county include 44 students and 18 staff: Bowling Green, 2 students, 4 staff; Eastwood, 6 students, 1 staff; Elmwood, 6 students, 2 staff; Lake, 2 students; Northwood, 4 students, one staff; Otsego, 2 students; Penta Career Center, 5 students; Perrysburg, 11 students, 8 staff; Rossford, 3 students, 2 staff; and St. Rose, 3 students.
Of the total 3,922 cases in Wood County, at least 442 have been in long-term care facilities – 253 were residents and 189 were staff. Those numbers from long-term care facilities are updated every Wednesday.

- St. Clare Commons, Perrysburg: 2 residents, 5 staff.
- Grand Rapids Care Center: 1 resident, 5 staff.
- Briar Hill Health Campus, North Baltimore: 45 residents, 22 staff.
- Brookdale, Bowling Green: 0 residents, 1 staff.
- Wood Lane Residential Werner House: 1 resident, 1 staff.
- Wood Haven Health Care: 0 residents, 3 staff.
- Waterford at Levis Commons: 1 resident, 4 staff.
- Bowling Green Manor: 0 residents, 3 staff.
According to the Ohio Department of Health, at least 75 of Wood County’s 105 deaths from COVID-19 have occurred in long-term care facilities.
