Wood County is now up to 12,802 confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 216 deaths from the virus since last March, according to the Monday, April 19, update from the Wood County Health Department.
That is 103 new cases and two more deaths since the last report on Thursday, April 15.
The number of active COVID cases in the county today is 164, which is 18 fewer than on Thursday. Active cases are Wood County residents who are being monitored by the health department according to state and federal isolation criteria.
A total of 623 local residents have been hospitalized for the coronavirus since last March, with three more being hospitalized since Thursday.
As of today, a total of 56,392 local residents have gotten at least their first dose of a COVID vaccine. That is 43.11% of the county population. Wood County’s vaccination rate is the third highest in the state, behind Delaware and Ottawa counties.
