On January 14, 2023, Clara Louise Todd passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side.
Louise met the love of her life when she was 11 years old and they were married for 54 years, until he passed away. She was an exceptional wife and mother and cared deeply for them. Louise was a homemaker and took pride in her home and raising her children.
She was a seamstress and she loved to make her families clothing. Her daughters remember how special they felt when she made them a new dress. Her family was always well-dressed thanks to her. She also was so polished and dressed to the nines.
She loved playing the piano and singing in church with her sister, Geneva. She was a member of Victory Chapel.
Louise had a long battle with dementia, but it never had hold of her faith. In the midst of dementia, she would pray and sing to her Lord and Savior. In her last days she hummed along with the song “It Is Well With My Soul.” In her confusion, she still would ask for prayer. Knowing the power of prayer, Louise would pray for her family often. Her prayers will live on in them.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James Todd; son, Jerry Todd; father, James Gilbert Black; mother, Elizabeth (Baker) Black; and brother, Jimmy Black. Clara is survived by her children: Patricia (Jeff) Carrier and Marilyn Todd: sisters: Geneva (William) Best and Judy Ward; grandchildren: Jason (Melissa) Velazquez, Jamie (LeAnna) Velasquez, Lisa (Lyell) Hablitzel; Justin (Evyn) Todd; Jessica Todd; and 9 great-grandchildren.
