Bowling Green Police cited two people for obstruction of official business over the weekend in the downtown area – one who misrepresented his age, and the other who reportedly ran from officers.

On Saturday around 11:30 p.m., an officer was patrolling in a city parking lot, when he saw a group of people standing around a vehicle with the doors open. As he approached the vehicle, the group began to disperse.

The officer observed alcohol in the back of the car, and saw one male had an alcoholic beverage in his pocket. The male reportedly told police he was 21, but he was actually 17 years old. He was taken to Wood County Juvenile Detention Center for open container, underage possession and obstruction.

On Sunday, around 2 a.m., police were dispatched to the 300 block of East Wooster Street for a report of a physical fight in a parking lot. When police arrived there were multiple people in the parking lot, but no fighting.

One male ran from the area, and jumped over a fence into church property. The officer reportedly ordered him multiple times to stop, but he did not. He then reportedly fell in the middle of South Enterprise Street, and was apprehended. The man said he believed he broke his arm, so he was checked out by BG Fire Division.

He was charged with obstructing official business.
