Donna June (Peinert) Snyder, 99, passed away peacefully at Bridge Hospice, Bowling Green, Ohio surrounded by her loving family on September 30, 2024. Donna was born on March 18,1925 in Bowling Green to Ray and Mildred (Mantel) Peinert. She married Robert Snyder in Bowling Green on February 14, 1954 and they were together until he passed away on July 19, 1980.
Donna was an only child but was incredibly happy when she married into a family with so many wonderful brothers and sisters.
Donna is survived by her precious children: Sandy (Ken) Bauman, Kathy (Buzz) Benschoter, and Rob (Karin) Snyder; grandchildren: Dustin (Bridgett) Bauman, Nicholas (Madeline) Bauman, Cody (Sarah) Bauman, Stacey (Matt) Poppe, Jason (Rebekah) Benschoter, Michael (Melissa) Snyder, Matthew (Amanda) Snyder; and 18 great-grandchildren: Lucy, Lydia, Brayden, Madison, Ashlyn, Ella, Roxy and Teagan Bauman, Julia, Meredith and Claire Poppe, Hannah and Merritt Benschoter, Casey and Corey Snyder, Mason Greggor, Wyatt and Myles Snyder. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her, as she leaves an indelible mark on the hearts of many.
After losing her husband at such a young age, she became an even stronger leader and role model for her family. She loved hosting family birthdays and holidays. After eating, she would get everyone gathered in her living room, in a circle, to play a game that she had created, or as she called it “a gimmick” that would always get them laughing and playing together, making so many special memories. Her seven grandchildren kept her very busy attending baseball games, hockey games, ice shows, and dance recitals.
Donna loved to dance, especially square dancing, and even took line dancing classes with her daughters when she was in her 80’s. She was an avid card player and spent many Friday nights with her friends playing Euchre at the family cottage on the river. Donna was known for the chicken decor in her kitchen. She enjoyed anything that had a chicken on it and received numerous chicken gifts to add to her collection. She was definitely Young at Heart and proved that by riding her favorite roller coasters at Cedar Point, The Mine Ride and Iron Dragon, when she was 85 years old!
Donna was an active lifetime member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was secretary/treasurer for her Sunday School class and Esther Circle for numerous years. She was a member of Eastern Stars Greenwood Chapter for an impressive 75 years, where she served as Treasurer. She was known for her creative table decorations and spent many hours preparing them for various events at the Church and Eastern Stars.
A celebration of Donna’s life and legacy will take place at Trinity United Methodist Church in Bowling Green on Monday, October 7. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will immediately follow at Wood County Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in Donna’s honor to Trinity United Methodist Church. Let us come together to honor and remember Donna and the light she brought into our lives.
The family would like to thank Bridge Hospice, especially her nurse Tiffany, for their wonderful care and compassion.
