Judith Lynn Bateson, 80, of Portage, Ohio passed away peacefully on Monday January 27, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 11, 1944, to the late Harry and Josephine (Musser) Amos in Bowling Green, Ohio. She married her beloved husband Jerry Bateson on August 25, 1962, and he survives in Portage, Ohio.
Judy graduated from Westwood High School in 1962. She worked at Great Scot grocery store in the deli department. She found her calling when she started working for Kroger in the bakery, decorating beautiful cakes and other delicious baked goods. In her leisure Judy enjoyed sewing, gardening and baking. Above all else Judy’s devotion was to her family. Her unwavering love will be missed by her husband, daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Along with her husband of nearly 63 years, Jerry, she is survived by her loving daughters Jacquelin (Eric) Palmer of Bowling Green, Ohio, Jill (Ross Swope) Goris of Portage, Ohio, sister Deborah Amos of Pemberville, Ohio, cherished grandchildren Nicholas (Chelsea) Palmer of Waterville, Ohio, Stephanie (Brett) Abke of Pemberville, Ohio, Jared Goris of North Baltimore, Ohio, Brock (Katie) Goris of Bowling Green, Ohio, great-grandchildren Vivian, Emerson, Asa, and Baby Goris arriving in July.
Along with her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her sister Beverly “Boots” Leady.
A visitation will be held Monday February 3, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Dunn Funeral Home located in the Historical District of Bowling Green, Ohio at 408 W. Wooster St. Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday February 4, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Dunn Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Wingston Cemetery Rudolph, Ohio. Pastor Rosanne Kalinowski will officiate. An additional visitation period will be held Tuesday February 4, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or Christ United Methodist Church, Portage, Ohio.
