After a valiant battle with an aggressive cancer, Thomas E. Jones II of Bowling Green, Ohio went to be with the Lord on February 4, 2025 at the age of 67. He passed peacefully surrounded by his family by his side, one of which was his niece, Jennifer Lawyer who lovingly cared for him around the clock. His comfort care was provided by Bridge Home Hospice. Thom was born on February 2, 1958 in Bowling Green, Ohio to Thomas E. Jones and Barbara Jones (Moore) who both precede him in death.
Thom graduated from Grayling High School in Grayling, Michigan in 1976. He was employed by the City of Bowling Green from 1985 to 2016 where he met his wife, Mary, and they were married in 1992. Thom attended Dayspring Assembly of God occasionally with his wife over the years. He loved his grandchildren fiercely as well as his pets. He had the best sister ever! Guess who is writing his obituary?!
Thom’s wife, Mary, was diagnosed with ALS in February of 2023 and Thom was diagnosed with lung cancer while hospitalized with a severe broken leg on Easter of 2023 and was away from his home for over a month. He battled through months of treatments. Mary left her earthly home in September of 2023 and Thom was not well enough at the time to celebrate her life, so we will celebrate both their lives together.
He is survived by his daughters Jocelyn K. (Jones) Mariconi of Taylor, Michigan and Elisha E. Jones of Bowling Green, Ohio, as well as his son Wesley R. Jones of Bowling Green, Ohio. Also surviving are one grandson and one granddaughter. Thom’s sister, Tamara S. Dreier of Pandora, Ohio; two nieces Jennifer Lawyer and Joannie Rasmussen; and a number of uncles, aunts and cousins also survive.
Thom was preceded in death by his wife, Mary K. Jones; father, Thomas E. Jones and mother, Barbara E. Jones (Moore). Both Thom and his wife Mary donated their bodies to science at the University of Toledo Medical Center.
There will be a Celebration of Life service for both Thomas and Mary held on Saturday March 1, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at Dunn Funeral Home, located in the Historical District of Bowling Green at 408 West Wooster Street. There will be a visitation period from 10:30 A.M. until the time of service at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Steve Davis will officiate. Following the Celebration of Life service there will be a luncheon held at Dayspring Assembly of God from 12:30 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. to share in fellowship and continue celebrating Thom and Mary’s lives.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made in Thom and Mary’s honor to either Dayspring Assembly of God Church or Bowling Green Bridge Hospice.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted with Dunn Funeral Home, Bowling Green, Ohio.
