Bowling Green Police arrested a Michigan man Monday (July 13), around 8:20 p.m., at the Circle K gas station, 1602 E. Wooster St., after a license plate camera identified the pickup truck he was driving as stolen. Officers were cautioned that the driver could be armed and suicidal, having allegedly made previous threats to display a firearm if stopped so officers would shoot him.
As the 30-year-old man exited the gas station and walked back to the stolen Ford Ranger truck, the first BG officer on the scene drew his firearm and ordered the man to step away from the vehicle. Other officers arrived on the scene and put the man in custody.
Police reportedly found several drugs in the truck, and two BB guns that looked like real handguns. After the man was in custody, he told the first officer on the scene that he considered charging him so the officer would shoot him.
The man was charged with receiving stolen property and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was taken to Wood County Jail.
