BG Police respond to reports of 6 vehicles being entered overnight

Bowling Green Police responded to reports Thursday of six vehicles being entered and items stolen. All the vehicles were in parking lots of apartment complexes in the 1000 block of Fairview Avenue.

The first victim reported noticing her car door cracked open when she went to work Thursday morning. Missing from her 2006 Honda Odyssey was some loose change. She told police she had left it unlocked overnight.

The second vehicle owner also left his car unlocked overnight. Reported stolen from his 2020 Chevy Equinox was a black bookbag, which contained a few clothing items, plus the owner’s military documents.

The next person reported going to her unlocked 2016 Ford Escape in the morning and finding items strewn all over the car. Stolen was $10 in quarters, an unknown prescription, and a 100mg package of marijuana edibles.

This victim stated she has a camera in her window that showed the theft. She played the video for police on her phone. According to the video, the theft occurred at 3:40 a.m. The video showed two figures in the parking lot entering the woman’s car, then checking other vehicles in the parking lot.

Due to the darkness and the quality of the video, not much detail about the two subjects can be seen, according to the police report.

The next report was filed by a woman whose unlocked 2012 Chevy Equinox was entered, and the door left ajar overnight. Items were strewn all over the vehicle, and $20 in coins and dollars were taken.

Another resident reported her unlocked 2018 Jeep Cherokee was entered sometime before she left for work at 3:45 in the morning. She reported finding items strewn around her car, and air fresheners and a lighter stolen.

The final report came from a man whose 2012 Subaru Impreza was entered, and a $100 Garmin GPS was removed from the glovebox. The owner thought his car doors were locked, but told police he may have left them unlocked.
