The Black Swamp Ice Frogs, a hockey team for individuals with disabilities, is holding a Spaghetti Dinner, Silent Auction, and Baked Goods Sale on Feb. 1, from 4 to 7 p.m., to raise money to pay for annual costs, including the rental of ice arena time, tournament fees, travel and lodging, awards, supplies and general operational costs.

The fundraiser is being held at First United Methodist Church, 1526 E. Wooster St., Bowling Green, located off of the Interstate 75 exit ramp and across from the Stroh Center at Bowling Green State University.

Tickets are being pre-sold and encouraged to provide an adequate count for food preparation at a cost of $10 for adults and $8 for children, ages 5 through 14 years old. Tickets can also be purchased at the door, with carryout available.

Dinner is provided by Pagliai’s Pizza and includes a drink, spaghetti, salad and breadsticks. Items will be offered for a minimum donation at a bake sale and several items will be offered at a silent auction, including a hockey puck signed by Mario Lemieux.

Volunteers are also needed to help with the event or donate a baked good or silent auction item.

The Black Swamp Ice Frogs, started in 2012, is a 501c3 organization whose goal is to promote the game of hockey to individuals of any age in Northwest Ohio who have physical or developmental disabilities. A member of the American Special Hockey Association, our team is no-contact, focused on not only promoting the game of hockey but allowing players the opportunity to develop skills they can use on and off the ice.

The team never wants to turn away family due to cost, so fundraising is crucial to our mission.
