From HABITAT FOR HUMANITY OF WOOD COUNTY
Habitat for Humanity of Wood County invites the community to learn how they can make a difference at a volunteer open house on Thursday, April 21, from 1 – 3 p.m. at the Habitat office, 326 Industrial Parkway, Suite 1, Bowling Green.
This free, drop-in event does not require an RSVP – attendees can stop by to explore volunteer opportunities, meet staff, and discover how they can support Habitat’s mission to build safe, affordable housing in Wood County.
The event is part of Habitat’s “Let’s Open the Door” campaign, an initiative focused on expanding access to homeownership and strengthening communities through volunteer engagement and local support.
“Volunteers are the heart of everything we do,” said Gina Skaggs, volunteer coordinator. “Whether you can give a few hours a month or want to get more deeply involved, there’s a place for everyone at Habitat. This open house is a great opportunity to find the role that fits your interests and schedule.”
Habitat for Humanity offers a variety of ways to get involved, including:
- Core crew volunteers – Individuals who can commit to helping on the build site at least twice per month, providing consistency and leadership on construction projects
- ReStore volunteers – Assist with donation intake, merchandising, and cashier positions at the Habitat ReStore
- Committee members – Support Habitat’s mission through planning, outreach, and organizational leadership
Volunteering with Habitat for Humanity not only helps families achieve homeownership – it also strengthens the entire community. Nationwide, Habitat volunteers contribute millions of hours annually, helping reduce housing costs, improve neighborhood stability, and build stronger local economies. Locally, Habitat for Humanity of Wood County has helped 58 families achieve safe, stable housing, creating lasting impacts for generations.
No construction experience is necessary to volunteer – just a willingness to help.
Community members of all backgrounds, skill levels, and availability are encouraged to attend and learn how they can get involved.
