Bowling Green State University has once again been named one of the top universities in the United States for veterans by the Military Times in its Best for Vets: Colleges 2020 rankings.

Best for Vets ranked BGSU 27th among four-year institutions in the U.S., and the No. 1 university in Ohio. As such, BGSU remains one of the top academic choices in the country for veterans and active-duty military personnel.

The rankings are based on the results of Military Times’ annual survey — a comprehensive school-by-school assessment of veteran and military student services and rates of academic achievement — as well as a detailed review of public data collected by federal agencies. The survey asks colleges and universities to document a wide array of services, special rules, accommodations and financial incentives offered to students with military ties, and to describe many aspects of veteran culture on a campus.

BGSU consistently ranks among the top schools for veterans by Military Times both nationally and in Ohio overall. The Best for Vets ranking is considered the most comprehensive school-by-school assessment of veteran and military student services and their rates of academic achievement.

“BGSU strives to support our military students, both inside and outside the classroom,” said Barbara Henry, assistant vice president for nontraditional and military student services at BGSU. “Ranking as we do in Military Times Best motivates us to continue providing educational and social opportunities for our veteran students.”

Best for Vets: Colleges 2020 rankings are an editorially independent news project that evaluates many factors that help make colleges and universities a good fit for service members, military veterans and their families.
