As seniors dine at the Wood County Senior Center, they will soon be able to see the sun filter through mosaics on dining room windows.

Local artist Gail Christofferson, of Animal House Glass, has been hired to develop mosaics for the south windows. The mosaics will depict the four seasons, plus pay tribute to Wood County’s corn crops in the center panel.

Wood County Committee on Aging board member Nancy Orel described the project Wednesday at the board’s meeting. When working on projects, Christofferson likes to involve the entire community, Orel said.

Wood County Committee on Aging Executive Director Denise Niese said the artist will take panels to each of the eight senior centers in the county so all have an opportunity to be involved.

The Friends of the Wood County Committee on Aging organization has donated $14,000 to the project, which is expected to start in the spring. The goal is to have the panels installed by summer, Orel said.

The estimated cost of the project is $13,500. Orel said Joe Long, who is the president of the Friends group, has volunteered to install the finished panels.
