A Napoleon man was arrested Tuesday (Aug. 11) morning after reportedly resisting arrest and refusing to be tested for OVI.
A Bowling Green Police officer pulled over Cody Riggs, 33, after he reportedly failed to make a proper stop at the intersection of West Wooster Street and Wintergarden Road around 2:50 a.m.
The officer reported the odor of alcohol, Riggs’ slurred speech and bloodshot eyes. After Riggs failed to properly perform the field sobriety tests, he reportedly refused to get into the back of a police vehicle. He anchored his feet on the car door and fought officers’ efforts.
Once at the police station, Riggs reportedly refused to submit to a breath test, so a warrant was issued for a blood draw at Wood County Hospital.
While at the hospital, officers reportedly had to hold down Riggs so the nurse could get a sample. During the blood draw, Riggs reportedly threatened to beat up one of the officers.
Riggs, who has two prior OVI convictions from 2014 and 2015, was arrested for menacing, OVI refusal, OVI, resisting arrest, and failure to comply with traffic control devices. His license was confiscated and he was taken to Wood County Jail.
