‘Peanut’ loves going on runs, rides in the car, and needs a new home

“Peanut” the pooch is in need of people to give him a home.

He is a 2-3 year old Australian cattle dog mix that originally came to the Wood County Dog Shelter as a stray. Peanut’s family was contacted, but his owner decided it was best to surrender him to the shelter because she couldn’t give him the active lifestyle he needs.

Peanut is an active guy who loves to run, and does well as a running partner. He does well with other dogs but should not go to a home with cats. Since he is a herding breed, he will try to “herd” when he gets excited and can get a little mouthy. A house with older children is recommended.

Peanut weighs 52 pounds and is neutered. Shelter staff describes him as very sweet, smart, happy, super friendly and energetic. He loves people, loves to play and go for walks, rides great in a car, and is housebroken.

The Wood County Dog Shelter is located at 1912 E. Gypsy Lane Road, Bowling Green, phone 419-354-9242.

The adoption fee for all shelter dogs is $89, which includes a $14 Wood County dog license, and $75 vet voucher toward spay/neuter and vaccines if needed. The hours for the shelter are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. The shelter is closed on Sundays.
