Sandra L DeVerna

The world lost an incredible woman last Friday. Grandma Sandy gained her ultimate healing and heard the treasured words, “Well done my good and faithful servant” as she was united with her Savior.

She loved the Lord, her husband, family and friends and every student that she had the pleasure of teaching. In 85 years, she was a blessing to many and faithfully told everyone she could about Jesus and how He had changed her and her family. Through FCA, Chrysler Bible studies, teaching and her own family, she had an impact on showing Christ to hundreds.

She also had a passion for all things flip-flops, flea markets, bold colors and sunshine. Being able to tell you what treasure she had gotten you for $1 brought such a smile to her face and no one will ever be able to accurately count the amount of pairs of flip-flops she owned.

She loved her time in Florida and Marblehead and treasured the family memories that both places brought. She had such a true gift for hospitality. Her home was always open to anyone that would come which resulted in all the big family gatherings especially in the summer. They even purchased the empty lot next door to park cars in and play baseball in for when everyone came over. She loved having a place for everyone to get together and always had everyone’s favorite food and snacks. Her famous taco salad is a tradition that will continue to live on even though it may never be quite the same.

She took personal responsibility to make sure every kid always had a gift to open at the Christmas gatherings which was a lot because she was always inviting everyone to everything! Even if you weren’t family, you were coming to Christmas and you were getting a gift 🤣

Family was her passion and attending the events of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren became her job in her later years. She was at almost every dance competition/ recital, baseball game, soccer game, track meet, volleyball, football game, cheer clinic, etc. Nothing made her happier than giving the gift of her presence to the people she loved.

A few years ago we were able to have her sit down and tell us about her life and her testimony. Video that will always be cherished.

She was an incredible woman that will truly be so missed! Until we meet again Grandma… thanks for always reminding us of what’s truly important. Love you always ❤️
