Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine today announced the approval of eight projects that will create 1,618 new jobs and retain 1,835 jobs statewide.
During its monthly meeting, the Ohio Tax Credit Authority (TCA) reviewed economic development proposals brought to the board by JobsOhio and its regional partners. The projects are expected to result in more than $133.1 million in new payroll and generate more than $1.8 billion in investments across Ohio.
One of those projects is in Wood County. OPmobility Exterior USA, LLC expects to create 541 full-time-equivalent positions, generating $40 million in new annual payroll by Dec. 31, 2030, as a result of the company’s project in the city of Rossford.
OPmobility develops and manufactures plastic automotive exterior parts and systems—mainly front bumpers, rear bumpers, wheel flares, and tailgates—and serves customers including General Motors, Stellantis, and Ford. The proposed project is a result of the company’s new Big 3 OEM contract for the production of bumpers, tailgates, flares, and other exterior parts and would consist of a build-to-suit manufacturing facility with access to major highways. TCA approved a 1.968%, 12-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.
“We welcome OPmobility’s first investment in Ohio, which will boost the state’s strong automotive sector and expand its U.S. footprint with more than 500 new jobs,” DeWine said. “OPmobility’s new facility in the Toledo region is great news for Northwest Ohio and a strong vote of confidence in our workers, communities, and automotive legacy from a respected global manufacturer.”
