Winning entries in Women’s Club writing contest to be compiled into booklet

From WOMEN’S CLUB OF BOWLING GREEN

In spite of the Covid-19 crisis and the abrupt closing of schools, over 150 entries from six schools and grades 1st – 8th for the 2020 Writing Contest were received!   Wanting to honor the efforts of administrators, teachers and students, the Women’s Club of Bowling Green decided to “carry on.”

Eight judges awarded 1st place status to thirteen pieces in prose and poetry.  Although a reception for these winners could not take place, their pieces have been copied and bound into a booklet to be placed and cataloged for the collection at the Wood County Public Library.  The booklet does list all the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners as schools were not holding final assemblies where all winners at any level are usually recognized.  All entries and certificates have been returned to the schools.

Congratulations to the winners and thanks to all who participated and made the 38th Annual Creative Writing Contest (the Year of the Pandemic), a reality!
