Wood County Dog Shelter to hold weeklong adoption event starting April 29

Wood County Dog Warden Jodi Harding gives a treat to Hottie, who was at the shelter last year.

The Wood County Commissioners have announced a weeklong adoption event to be held at the Wood County Dog Shelter.

National Adopt-a-Shelter-Pet Day is recognized annually on April 30 to raise awareness for the thousands of pets that are waiting for and needing adoptions from shelters. Wood County will be honoring that day by hosting a weeklong adoption event from April 29 to May 4.

The dog adoption fee of $75 will be reduced to $25, and adopters will be provided with a goodie bag for their new family member. Adopters are encouraged to bring their entire household (dogs included) to meet the dogs before adopting. Adopters will need to purchase a 2024 Wood County Dog License for $14.
