Wood County remains under ‘extreme heat warning’

From WOOD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY

Wood County continues to be under an extreme heat warning through Friday, July 3. The heat index is likely to reach 107°F today, July 2.

During this time, people are encouraged to check on their family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers to make sure they are not showing any signs or symptoms of heat illnesses and call 9-1-1 if needed.

There is increased confidence in shower and thunderstorm activity across the region for the July 4th weekend. There is potential for strong to severe thunderstorms. Storm timing and coverage details for July 3 – 5 remain uncertain at this time.

There is some indication this severe weather could impact holiday events and fireworks displays. At this time, any storms would be scattered in nature and not an all-day event.

Wood County EMA will continue to provide updates as deemed appropriate.
