Wood County residents’ response to census trending higher than state average

Wood County residents are responding to the U.S. Census at a little higher rate than the state and national average.

A total of 38.4% of residents in Wood County have returned their census surveys, compared to 37.6% for Ohio. Both are higher than the national average of 34.7%, according to Patricia J. Robb, partnership specialist with the U.S. Census Bureau.

In addition, 37.3% of Wood County respondents have done so via the internet.

The 2020 Census Response Rate Map shows both the 2010 and 2020 self-response rate making it simple to measure a community’s progress.

People can respond on their own, whether online, over the phone, or by mail – all without having to meet a census taker. Answers to questions about filing online can be found on the 2020 Census website at https://2020census.gov/en/help/responding-online.html.

Based on continuing assessments of guidance from federal, state and local health authorities, the U.S. Census Bureau continues to suspend 2020 Census field operations. The Census Bureau is taking this step to help protect the health and safety of the American public, Census Bureau employees, and everyone who will go through the hiring process for temporary census taker positions, according to Robb.
