Margaret (Marge/Marg) Ellen (nee Jenny) George, age 84 of Bowling Green, OH, formerly of Wauseon, OH, passed away on February 28, 2025. She was born August 7th, 1940, to George and Hazel (Scheaf) Jenny in Columbus, OH. From 1958-1962, Marge attended Bowling Green State University where she was active in Alpha Xi Delta & Tau Beta Sigma and met her future Falcon Flame, James P. George. They were then married in July of 1962.
Marge earned her teaching degree and first taught Home Economics at Grand Rapids and 6th grade at New London and Indian Lake before taking a break to raise her family. She returned to teaching in 1977 in Wauseon, first teaching 6th grade, and then 5th grade until she retired in 1996. Upon retirement from teaching, she dabbled with several different part-time jobs working at the Lion’s Store, JoAnn Fabrics, Sauder Village and BGSU registration. She also volunteered at Wood County Hospital, making blankets and giving tours, participating in meals-on-wheels and was very active in her church’s mission team. While raising her boys, she was a Cub Scout den mother, and through the years enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, traveling and spending time with family. She never missed a music/dance performance that her sons or grandchildren performed in. In addition, she assisted Jim tirelessly with many activities involving his job as a band director.
In addition to her husband Jim, Marge is survived by her children, Stanley (Konnie Nicholson-George), and Rick (Summer). Her grandchildren: Kayleigh (Aaron) Rhoton, Saralynn (Colton) Brenton, Caden George (Natalie Kisling), Ellie George, Will George, Kaia George, and Great Grandchild Levi Rhoton. Siblings: Thomas (Beth) Jenny and Jack (Laurie) Jenny. In-Laws Tom (Priscilla) George and Joanne (Rene) Moquin and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Joan Jenny and grandson, Michael George.
The family would like to thank the staff at Bowling Green Manor and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their compassionate and loving care of Marge during her last years.
A service is planned for 12:00 p.m., Saturday, March 22nd, 2025, at First Christian Church, 875 Haskins Rd, Bowling Green, OH, 43402. The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service with a luncheon to follow. Officiating will be Rev. Gene Sugg with assistance from Marge’s son, Rev. Rick George. Interment will be private.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Dunn Funeral Home located in the Historical District of Bowling Green, Ohio at 408 W. Wooster St.
Memorials may be made in honor of Margaret to one of the following churches in which she served: First Christian Church of Wauseon, Trinity United Methodist Church of Bowling Green, or First Christian Church in Bowling Green.
