From CITY OF BOWLING GREEN

The city of Bowling Green is advising residents and families to use extra caution in the Wallace Avenue neighborhood during trick-or-treating on Saturday, Oct. 31, dur to ongoing water and sewer infrastructure improvements.

As part of the project, crews are currently removing concrete curbs, sidewalks, and remaining water valve boxes along Wallace Avenue between North Maple and Meeker streets. Sidewalks and curbs will not be fully restored in time for trick-or-treating, leaving portions of the area with uneven surfaces and construction-related hazards.

Families planning to trick-or-treat in the neighborhood are encouraged to be mindful of these conditions, closely supervise children, and avoid walking through active construction areas. Residents should also be aware that normal pedestrian routes may be disrupted and consider alternate routes where necessary.

Additional road closures are scheduled for today, Oct. 30, impacting Wallace Avenue and its intersections with North Maple and Meeker streets. Crews will be working at both intersections at different times, with the contractor attempting to reopen the roadway overnight as conditions allow.

The city appreciates residents’ patience and understanding as these infrastructure improvements continue. The safety of residents, particularly children and families participating in Halloween activities, remains a priority.

It is encouraged to note that the construction schedule is subject to change depending on weather conditions and the progress of the work.
