One indication of a change to an authoritarian regime is the tendency for those in power to attempt to rewrite historical events.
For example, interpretation of the January 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol attack, storming of the United States Capitol, by a mob of supporters of Republican Pres. Donald J. Trump in an attempted coup. Trump claimed that wasn’t what it appeared to be ignoring the deaths of policemen, and threats to “hang” Vice President Mike Pence.
One of the first things Trump did when re-elected was to pardon and release the legally convicted criminals “excusing” them for the attack on the Capitol.
There are many other examples of attempts at rewriting events and promoting re-interpretations of history since his second term began.
Strangely on August 6, 2025 it was reported ….. “Key sections of the US Constitution deleted from government’s website.” The changes were made in the past month. Changes in Article 1 of the U.S. Constitution: Large parts of Section 8 have been removed, and Sections 9 and 10 have been deleted altogether.
Article One concerns the powers of the Congress. These sections largely relate to the powers that Congress has and does not have, as well as limitations on the powers of individual states. The removal includes sections relating to habeas corpus, the powers that protect citizens from unlawful detention.
Habeas corpus has been a matter of contention with ICE raids, made without warrants, disappearing individuals, and denying access to legal aid and their families, even to documented United States citizens.
Changing the U.S. Constitution’s text on the website does not change or have any effect on U.S. law, but it nevertheless follows senior Trump administration official Stephen Miller’s threats earlier this year to suspend habeas corpus.
Members of Congress will soon find that they are unnecessary expenses to the current Federal Government since their powers will soon be disappearing. Their job description is vanishing before our eyes as the U.S. Constitution is being rewritten daily by someone who wants total control.
I wonder when the book burnings will begin to make sure our history is not preserved, and Big Brother will tell what he feels it should say and what we should think.
