A Bowling Green man has been arrested for alleged strangulation, aggravated menacing and unlawful restraint of a woman.
BG Police arrested Jonathan Laabs, 48, on Friday (Aug. 29) around noon for an assault that allegedly took place Aug. 24, around 2:30 a.m., at a home in the 1400 block of Sheffield Drive.
A woman reported to police that she was sleeping on a couch in the home, when Laabs allegedly began yelling at her to get out of the home. She told police that Laabs began strangling her, making it difficult to breathe. She also said that while reportedly strangling her, he threatened to kill her and her family.
The woman told police that Laabs then struck her right arm multiple times with a closed fist. She reportedly tried to leave, but Laabs had her purse and keys to her vehicle. All of her other items were scattered in the street and yard, she said. As she tried to retrieve her belongings, Laabs allegedly pushed her to the ground several times.
When the woman reported the alleged assault, police noted serious bruising on her neck and arm. The woman also showed police photographs she had taken the day after the assault.
