Author Viktor Klemperer wrote a memoir describing how Germany changed a little bit at a time. One liberty was lost, but that wasn’t a big loss, and after all, the people loved their leader. Then more and more freedoms were lost until one morning he saw a swastika on his toothpaste and realized “all was lost.” It was his tipping point.
Our President ignores the constitutional concept of “due process,” deporting people because of how they look. And now, he is ignoring our most sacred freedom, “freedom of speech.” Any person or TV station that states an opinion challenging him or his actions, will find themselves and/or their business punished because he doesn’t like what they said.
Make this our tipping point. We the people, must stand up and say, “no more: you have gone too far.” There are things you can do: participate in peaceful protests, send money to nonprofit organizations suing to stop Trump’s unconstitutional actions, and respectfully resist. Above all, use the power of your vote.
Check your registration and if you are not registered, you must do it before October 6th. Early voting will begin on October 7th.
