The Habitat for Humanity of Wood County ReStore, 829 W. Newton Road., Bowling Green, is celebrating its one-year anniversary, marking a year of impact through affordable housing support, sustainability efforts, and community engagement. The ReStore officially opened on Jan. 23, 2025, following years of planning by a dedicated ReStore forming committee led by Kim Brummell.

In its first year of operation, the ReStore has become a resource for Wood County. The store has completed 764 donation pick-ups, received more than 4,000 individual donated items, and recycled over 60,000 pounds of unsellable materials, helping reduce waste while keeping reusable goods in circulation.

“This first year has truly shown what’s possible when a community comes together,” said Robin Swanson, ReStore manager. “Every donation, every purchase, and every volunteer hour directly supports Habitat for Humanity’s mission. We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished and grateful to everyone who has helped make the ReStore a success.”

Volunteer support has been central to the ReStore’s growth. Over the past year, 174 volunteers contributed more than 3,000 hours, including 117 Bowling Green State University students who completed 383 volunteer hours, supporting daily operations and advancing Habitat’s work in the community.

As a result of this positive community response, the ReStore has expanded its operating hours and is now open Wednesday through Friday, from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., and Saturdays, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

To thank the community, the Habitat for Humanity of Wood County ReStore is celebrating its one-year anniversary with a 23% off storewide sale, available through Saturday, Jan. 24.

The Habitat for Humanity of Wood County ReStore is a way to shop, save, and support the community. The ReStore is a nonprofit home improvement store and donation center open to the public. Shoppers can find quality new and gently used furniture, appliances, cabinets, home goods, and building materials at prices significantly below retail. Every item purchased, donated, or recycled at the ReStore directly supports Habitat for Humanity’s mission of helping local families build affordable homes in Wood County.
