On Thursday, Feb. 5, at approximately 3:12 p.m., the Wood County Sheriff’s Office investigated a two- vehicle crash which resulted in one fatality. The crash occurred on U.S. 6 at the Interstate 75 southbound exit in Center Township.
The crash involved a 2010 Honda Civic and a 2023 Lexus SUV.
The Honda exited I-75 and attempted to turn east onto Route 6. It reportedly failed to yield to westbound traffic and was struck on the driver’s side by the Lexus.
The operator and passenger of the Lexus, Lee and Thomas Dierksheide of Bradner, were both transported to Toledo Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The operator of the Honda, Peter Kay of Perrysburg, was flown to Mercy St. Vincent by Life Flight, where he was later pronounced deceased as a result of his injuries.
Assisting on location were Bowling Green EMS, Mid County 120 EMS, and both Howard’s and Bubba’s Towing.
The crash is currently still under investigation.
