Kennard L. “Skip” Oman, 95, of Bowling Green, Ohio passed away Saturday February 28, 2026. He was born on March 1, 1930 in Toledo, Ohio to Kennard W. and Viola (Mayhugh) Oman.
Skip served in the United States Air Force upon graduating from high school where he learned the skills needed to be a draftsman, later working at Clark Consulting Engineers followed by Poggemeyer Design Group, from which he retired. He loved horses and spent much of his younger years around local rodeos. Skip also loved golf and tinkering in his garage on different projects. He was a die-hard Cleveland Sports fan. One of his favorite hobbies, however, was reading Western novels, of which he would commonly place a secret little dot inside each book he had already read so he wouldn’t check out the same book twice, a personal little reminder for him when searching for new novels.
Skip married his first wife, Norma (Scheerer) in 1953 and they had three children together, Kennard A. (Carol) Oman, Gail Oman, and Randy (Debbie) Oman. Norma preceded Skip in death in 1994. Skip then later married Loma Jean “Sis” Oman in 2000 and they enjoyed their retirement years together. Loma Jean also preceded Skip in death on April 30, 2015.
Along with his children, Kennard A. (Carol) Oman, Gail Oman, and Randy (Debbie) Oman, Skip is survived by his grandchildren Kennard J. Oman, Rhianna Olney, Michelle Vandenbroek, Brandy Ball, Ernesto Gonzalez, Ashley Oman and Samantha Oman. Also surviving are his great-grandchildren Raven Oman, Aiden Olney, Logan Gonzalez, Trevor Gonzalez, Jackson Gonzalez, Emit Veteto and Mileena Veteto.
He was preceded in death by both of his wives and his sister Jean Torrence.
A private Celebration of Life service will be held by the family at a later date.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted with Dunn Funeral Home, located in the Historical District of Bowling Green at 408 West Wooster Street.
