Wood County at slight risk of severe weather on Tuesday and Wednesday

From WOOD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY

Wood County is currently under a “slight risk,” 2 of 5, for severe weather on Tuesday, March 10, into early Wednesday, March 11, morning. Multiple waves of storms will move through Wood County starting around noon on Tuesday, continuing through Wednesday morning.

Lightning, hail larger than one inch, and damaging winds over 60 mph will be the main hazards. If this system continues to move toward Wood County, the chance for larger hail and strong tornadoes increases.

The most severe weather for Wood County is expected to move through during the nighttime hours. Due to lack of visibility in the overnight hours, and many people sleeping, the time to respond to severe weather once warnings are issued is diminished.
