I am writing in support of Megan Newlove’s candidacy for judge of the Wood County Juvenile/Probate Court.
I’ve known Megan for many years, since her days on city council as a young woman, and even then she had a reputation as a compassionate person. Compassion means recognizing another person’s difficult situation, caring about their plight, and then stepping up to actually help. In the years since I met her, Megan has more than confirmed that reputation in my mind through her work as guardian for a dear friend of mine.
I’ve been the gentleman in question’s friend for nearly twenty years, and I’m 76 years old myself, so I’ve had plenty of time to watch how people show up for one another — or don’t. My friend has faced numerous challenges over the years, and time and again I’ve seen Megan step up for him. Her assistance and guidance have been critical to his well-being, and she has never treated her responsibility to him as a formality. She treats it as a calling.
During these difficult times, we need more people like Megan Newlove in positions of trust over our community’s most vulnerable citizens. A vote for her this November would be an extremely smart thing to do.
Sincerely,
Dave Horger
Wood County resident
