On Nov. 3, voters will be asked to consider a 1.0 mill renewal levy for the Wood County Committee on Aging. The committee on aging provides a wide variety of services at eight sites throughout Wood County, including program activities, home-delivered meals, and social services.
We are fortunate to have the committee on aging’s Perrysburg Senior Center, where many of our seniors gather for lunch daily. In addition, activities at the Perrysburg center include Bingo, line dancing, card games, fitness classes, Tai Chi, and health screenings. This togetherness and these programs are important ways to improve the quality of life for our seniors and help them maintain indpendent lifestyles.
The 1.0 mil renewal levy is not a new tax, and it will enable the committee on aging to continue their valuable services, as the levy supplies over 70% of the operating revenue. I encourage voters to vote “yes” on Nov. 3 for the Wood County Committee on Aging renewal levy and continue this important program for our senior citizens.
