It is my privilege to recommend Doug Ruck as an outstanding candidate for Wood County Juvenile and Probate Court Judge. I’ve known Doug for close to three decades during my career as a clinical psychologist serving children and families in Bowling Green and Wood County. I think his skills, character, intellect, and experience are ideally suited for this role.
Doug served as an attorney for my clinical practice which involved extensive collaboration and engagement with the juvenile court system. Through our long professional relationship, I have relied on Doug for his sound, steady, expert representation in addressing the complex interaction of mental health and legal issues that present in juvenile court proceedings.
He has a remarkable grasp of the legal and human concerns involved in the crucial proceedings of the court – juvenile justice, child abuse/neglect, child custody, and adoption. The breadth of his legal experiences speak also to his ability to serve as probate judge, and to manage and develop the complex components of the juvenile court system (e.g., probation, CASA, detention).
Doug’s expertise combines with the qualities that we admire in other people. He is calm, curious, and thoughtful; he has uncommon good judgment; he is empathic; and he treats people with decency, kindness, and respect. He is a truly fine person. As Juvenile Court judge, Doug will bring a calm temperament, respect for the law, passion for justice, and compassion for children.
