Raymond D. Keys, 89, of Portage, Ohio, passed away October 28, 2026. He was born September 27, 1937 to Ted and Laurella (Householder) Keys. He married Marilyn Adams on June 24, 1978 and she survives in Portage.
Ray attended Portage Twp. Schools and worked for 42 years in the Agriculture Chemical Industry – specializing in vegetable pest control. He received special recognition from Midwest Food Producers Association that specialized in the tomato industry. He spent many years farming alongside his father and brother Tom.
He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Portage. He enjoyed singing in the church choir with his wife Marilyn and also sang with the Florida Park Choruses. He and Marilyn enjoyed spending time in Florida. Ray was a talented cabinet maker and made cabinets for many local families as well as for many friends in Florida and Michigan.
Along with his wife Marilyn of 48 years, Ray is survived by his children Kevin Keys (Chris), Kraig Keys (Mara), Kathy Coe (Randy), Kimberly Arasato, Jeffrey Deutschman, Jay Deutschman (Anne) and Amy Lee (Rex), brother Thomas Keys and sister Connie Mears as well as 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter-in-law Deena Deutschman and sister-in-law Carolyn Keys.
His funeral service will be held on Thursday November 5, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church, 301 W. Main St. Portage, Ohio 43451. Pastor Rosanne Kalinowski will officiate. Visitation will be held Thursday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m.
