Wood County Dog Warden & Cub Scouts partner to create free pet food pantry

From WOOD COUNTY DOG WARDEN

Starting today, April 26, the Wood County Dog Shelter, 1912 E. Gypsy Lane Road, will have a free pet food pantry available to those who are in need. The shelter and dog warden partnered with Cub Scouts of America, who made the pantry to keep at the shelter.

The motto is “leave what you can, take what you need,” no questions asked. However, to ensure help to as many people as possible, people are asked to only take two bags per household.

The shelter is also asking for donations for the pet food bank. People can donate pet food at any time by leaving it in the pantry.

Items that are accepted:

  • Unopened and unexpired dry dog or puppy food
  • Unopened and unexpired canned dog food
  • Unopened and unexpired dog or puppy treats

Items that are not accepted:

  • Opened dog or puppy food
  • Rawhides of any kind

It is encouraged to note that the pet food pantry is community-run, and food may not always be available.

The Wood County Board of Commissioners and the Wood County Dog Shelter and their respective officials, directors, officers, employees, agents, contractors, or volunteers are not responsible for the food in the pet food pantry. People will be taking the food at their own risk.
