BG man arrested for felonious assault after reportedly hitting police officer

Bowling Green Police arrested a man for felonious assault of a police officer Tuesday evening.

Antonio Escobar, 45, of Bowling Green, was also charged with criminal mischief, disorderly conduct with persistence, two counts of menacing, and two counts of public indecency.

Police were called to an apartment in the 1000 block of Third Street for a man overdosing on unknown pills and alcohol. A family member told paramedics that Escobar had been “popping pills” and drinking alcohol all day.

Prior to Escobar getting into the ambulance, fire division personnel asked that he be patted down for weapons. As police tried to search his pockets, Escobar reportedly swung his arms and struck an officer in the mouth. The officer did not need medical attention.

Fire division personnel reported that Escobar threatened them as they transported him to the hospital, and reportedly threatened to harm hospital staff treating him, at one point allegedly trying to knee a nurse in the head.

According to the police report, Escobar was given a urinal, but twice intentionally urinated on the hospital floor. On two occasions, he reportedly exposed his penis to several nurses and other hospital patrons.

Once Escobar was medically cleared by the hospital, he was transported to the Wood County jail.
