BG man cited after reportedly taking Amazon packages delivered to apartment complex

A Bowling Green man was cited after he reportedly took two Amazon packages that had been delivered to an apartment complex in the 1000 block of Third Street.

Bowling Green Police were called to the complex on Wednesday (May 8) around 2 p.m., after two residents received notices and photos from Amazon of their packages being delivered, but missing.

One of the packages contained cosmetics valued at $40, and the other a pillow valued at $10.

An employee at the complex reviewed surveillance video from the area that reportedly showed a white male walking a dog. The video reportedly showed the man, Larry Burchard, 70, taking the packages sitting outside the complex door.

Burchard reportedly told police he believed the packages were trash, since there is a dumpster nearby. Police explained the items were sealed Amazon packages with address labels on them for people other than Burchard.

Police retrieved the pillow and cosmetics from Burchard, and returned them to the owners. Burchard was cited for criminal damaging for taking and tampering with the packages.
