BG pilot killed in single-engine plane crash near Marion

A Bowling Green man has been identified as one of two pilots killed in a single-engine plane crash on Oct. 31 near Marion.

According to the Ohio State Patrol, the right front seat occupant of the plane was William J. David, 70, Bowling Green, and the left front seat occupant was Hal E. Durbin, 71, Findlay. 

The incident remains under investigation.

The Marion Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to the scene of the crash that occurred shortly before noon on Oct. 31 in Pleasant Township near Marion.

The preliminary investigation showed the Piper crashed into a bean field, approximately nine miles southwest of the Marion Municipal Airport. The single-engine Piper sustained major damage and the two occupants suffered fatal injuries.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash.
