BG Police arrest woman for reportedly stabbing man

A Bowling Green woman was arrested after she allegedly stabbed a man Wednesday around 5:30 a.m.

Whitney Trautman, 32, was charged with felonious assault and domestic violence, and transported to the Wood County jail.

Police were called to Trautman’s residence in the 300 block of North Summit Street, after an emergency call was made that a man at the residence had fallen down the stairs. However, when police arrived on the scene, there was blood throughout the house, and the male victim was bleeding from the right shoulder area, where it appeared he had been stabbed.

Both the victim and Trautman initially told police that the man had cut his shoulder when he fell down the stairs. But both the victim and suspect eventually changed their stories and said Trautman had stabbed the man.

The man was taken to Wood County Hospital.

Trautman told police that the man was choking her with both hands before she grabbed a knife and stabbed him. She said the man had been physically abusing her for months.

Trautman was also taken to Wood County Hospital after being interviewed at the police station. She reportedly told police that she tried to kill herself by drinking the liquid from a glo-stick she found in the police interview room. She also began hitting her head on the floor and walls, according to the police report.
